TELL ME MORE ABOUT BADGING

Q: What is an open badge?

A: Open badges are web-enabled versions of a credential, certification or learning outcome which can be verified in real-time, online.

Q: How does my certification get displayed as a badge?

A: We have partnered with Credly to translate the learning outcomes you’ve demonstrated into a badge, issued and managed through the company’s Acclaim Platform. The technology Credly uses on its Acclaim Platform is based on the Open Badge Standards maintained by IMS Global. This enables you to manage, share and verify your competencies digitally. Check out our how-to videos above!

Q: What are the benefits of a badge?

A: Representing your skills as a badge gives you a way to share your abilities online in a way that is simple, trusted and can be easily verified in real time. Badges provide employers and peers concrete evidence of what you had to do to earn your credential and what you’re now capable of. Credly’s Acclaim Platform also offers labor market insights, based on your skills. You can search and apply for job opportunities right through the Acclaim Platform.

Q: Who is Credly?

A: Credly is the end-to-end solution for issuing and managing digital credentials. Credly works with credible organizations to provide digital credentials to individuals, worldwide.

Q: What are the available badges?

A: We have three main badges available. 1. The “Personal Success Facilitator” badge – you will receive this badge if you completed the True Colors Personal Success 2.5-day Facilitator training; 2. The “Advanced Application” badge – you will receive a separate badge when you complete the Communication, Team Building, Conflict Navigation, Consultative Selling, True Parenting and/or Teaching & Learning Styles Advanced Applications. For example, if you complete the ‘Communication’ Advanced Application, you will receive the “True Colors Communication” badge; 3. The “Elite Facilitator” badge – this is the next step after receiving the “Personal Success Facilitator” badge. You earn this badge when you complete the Personal Success Facilitator training AND 3 or more Advanced Application Certification training’s.

Q: How will I know if I’ve earned a badge?

A: You will receive an email notification from the Acclaim Platform (admin@youracclaim.com) with instructions for claiming your badge and setting up your account.

Q: I have not received my badge, how do I get one?

A: Contact Customer Service at customerservice@truecolorsintl.com or via phone, (800) 422-4686.

Q: I noticed that I have an ‘inactive’ digital badge, what does this mean?

A: Inactive means that you are not current on your facilitator status. ‘Current’ refers to a certification date within the last 5 years. By maintaining a current status, True Colors will be able to provide you with updated resources, networking opportunities, additional rewards and the ability to purchase products. However, if you have not been certified within the last 5 years, no worries! Sign up for your FREE Certification Renewal Webinar by navigating to your facilitator portal to sign up for a convenient date/time that works best for your schedule. You will find this information on the right-hand side of the screen.

Q: What if I don’t want my badge to be public?

A: You can easily configure your privacy settings in the Acclaim Platform. You’re in complete control of the information about yourself that is made public.

Q: Where and how can I share my badge through Credly’s Acclaim Platform?

A: You can share your badge directly from the Acclaim Platform to LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook; over email; embedded in a website or in your email signature. Check out our above videos to learn more!

Q: Why does the “verify” button keep appearing when I try to share to LinkedIn?

A: This is common. That feature is for an external party (ex: potential employer) viewing the credential to ‘verify’ that the credential is current and obtain details such as when the badge was issued. It’s available each time it’s viewed to see the current status of the credential as an extra layer of verification.

Q: Is it true that Acclaim has the ability to post on my behalf?

A: LinkedIn does not have the ability for Acclaim to post on your behalf. If you prefer that option, then you would have to allow that access – it is not automatic. When you share your badge on LinkedIn, the badge is only displayed with whatever verbiage you would like to showcase to your viewers. To add to your profile, you will just need to copy and paste the information from Acclaim to LinkedIn. This is how all certifications are added to LinkedIn and is controlled by only LinkedIn. If you are looking to “share” your badge and do not directly want to connect your LinkedIn account to Acclaim, then you can just copy and paste the sharing link as a post. You can also change the settings after sharing the badge.

Q: I would like to share on my social media accounts but unsure of what to say. Can you provide me with suggestions?

A: Of course you can modify as necessary, but here is a suggestion: View my True Colors digital badge! This “Certified Facilitator” badge showcases my skill-sets to help deliver the True Colors Personal Success Workshop. I covered topics such as temperament methodology, the history and evolution of temperament and personality-typing models, self-awareness and discovery, strengths and stressors of each personality (color) type, and communication styles and strategies to enhance personal and professional relationships. Want to help colorize the world and deliver the True Colors methodology to others? Contact True Colors for more info!

Q: Is there a fee to use Credly’s Acclaim Platform?

A: No. This is a service we provide to you, at no cost.

Q: What’s to keep someone else from copying my badge and using it?

A: While badges are simply digital image files, they are uniquely linked to data hosted on Credly’s Acclaim Platform. This link to verified data makes them more reliable and secure than a paper-based certificate. It also eliminates the possibility of anyone claiming your credential and your associated identity.

Q: What are labor market insights and how can I access them through Credly’s Acclaim Platform?

A: Labor market insights are pulled from live job requisitions. Based on your skills you can learn which employers are hiring, what job titles you might be qualified for, salary ranges and more. Search active job listings and even apply for them with just a few clicks through the Acclaim Platform. Access the labor market insights from your badge details page by clicking on Related Jobs, or by clicking on the skill tags assigned to your badge.

Q: Can I export badges issued through Credly’s Acclaim Platform to other badge-storing platforms?

A: Yes, you can download your badge from the Share Badge page. Your downloaded badge contains Open Badge Infrastructure (OBI) compliant metadata embedded into the image. This allows you to store your badge on other OBI-compliant badge sites, such as the Mozilla backpack.

Q: Can I import badges issued from other platforms into Credly’s Acclaim Platform?

A: Not at this time.

Q: I have a question about the Acclaim Platform. Where can I find support?

A: You can find answers to frequently asked questions here: support.youracclaim.com

Q: How can I update my facilitator information so I can keep receiving updated information, resources and networking opportunities?

A: Go to https://share.hsforms.com/1-ZtpKQ-ET0i9SDmo92583w2jl8x to update your information!
